Everything that we saw is what we wanted to become, the fast life was so enticing to our young minds. Those dead presidents on the green paper was our goal and those fast cars moving at the speed of life. Inside of those cars were our hereos, superhereos to us at the time. They had everything we thought we wanted in life. They were moving at the speed of life, but to us it seemed like they were moving at the speed of light. We both knew that lifestyle never lasted and was just for a moment. As we grew older my friend, who felt like a brother fell into the trap of that lifestyle that we grew up together analyzing. We gradually seperated due to our lifestyle choices and eventually lost touch. I often think back and wonder what happened to my friend, my brother. Physically I recognize him but his mindset and actions are forever altered. My greatest disappointment is not losing my closest friend, but knowing that young kids will grow up on the same streets that we did and face the same fate, fall into the same trap that my closest friend fell victim too. Young kids that are growing up in the same neighborhood that we did will fall victim to the lust of moving at the speed of life.
